Is Ferrari and Maserati under a same group of company?

I heard that Ferrari is Maserati and Maserati is Ferrari? Is that true? Need the truth.

3. Fiat owns Ferrari. Ferrari bought Maserati in the 90's. So now Fiat owns both Ferrari and Maserati. And Fiat owns Alfa Romeo. Ever noticed how similar the Alfa Romeo 8c, Ferrari California, and Maserati Gran Turismo are? Or how similar the Maserati Quattroporte and Ferrar Scaglietti are?
